Scope & Content |
1833 Receipt to the proprietors of the Fisher School to Foote & Chisholm. The Fisher School stood on Washington Street for about two years. It may have later been incorporated into the Washington Street Academy (Beverly Academy). Rantoul mentions a school on Washington St., in his Autobiography that was formed prior to the later Academy, but doesn't name it. It seems possible that the Fisher school was named for Dr. Joshua Fisher who died the same year the school was formed. |
