A postcard from the international agency of prisoners of war in Geneva notifying Mrs. James Delaney that her husband had been taken prisoner. This was sent to her in Brooklyn, NY, where she had been staying with her sister. He had been captured following the sinking of the S.S. Campana on August 6, 1917 and was being held in Brandenburg, Germany. He was the first American prisoner of war. He was originally from Malden, MA and moved to Beverly in 1921. |
