1800 letter from Captain Isaac Rea to Israel Thorndike and John Lovett, owners of the Schooner Betsey. Capt. Rea wrote from Alicante, Spain about coming into that port short of water. While in port he contacted Messrs. De Maziere "at the place of information" to get advice about the prices for pepper and coffee and to get money from Thorndike & Lovett's account ($41.00). Rea was then going to sail for Palermo. The back of the letter was the "envelope" and it was sent through Lisbon. |
