Orders from Brown & Thorndike to Nicholas Thorndike mentioning that if he proceeds to New York from Havanna he will see Edward Goold who they have directed either to sell cargo there, Philadelphia or back at home, whichever market is suitable. If the cargo is sold southward he is to take a cargo of superfine flour and proceed home, unless a good voyage to the West Indies can be made. However if Spain is to take part in the war he might be admitted into Havanna and if he thinks otherwise he will go to any part of the West Indies that is best and go from there to the Havanna and load molasses for home. He will also determine with Edward Goold on where to go for better interest. They also inform him on the trail happening back home on a schooner vessel and its cooper. |
