1799 Log book of the Brig "Rover" from Beverly to Embden (Maine?) leaving 13 April 1799, John Thissel, Master, and continuing on to St. Petersburgh (sic). Other ports include Cronstadt, Elsneur and back to Beverly. Another voyage in 1799 is from Beverly to Baltimore and back. And again in January 1800 from Beverly to Counna and Bilboa, Spain and back to Beverly. In May of 1800 the Rover is bound from Beverly to Alicant to Gilbralter and home. The second page of the log is a memo of water and provisions used on a "voyage to Europe" Beverly Carlman notes in "Vessels of Beverly" notebook that the Brigantine "Rover" 135 tons was built at Salem 1799 and Registered in April 1799, owners Benjamin Lovett & Abraham Kilham; Master John Thissel. The only name noted in the log is that of John Thissel. |
