Letter addressed to Isabel L. Morehouse from her mother. They have sent her a box of apples which includes Lineland Rasperry and Yellow Transparent. Mentions an Aunt Carrie, Lonnie (? hard to read the name) , Eleanor, Aunt May, Uncle Bob, Aunt Helen, Uncle Lon (?hard to read), Aunt Annie, Aunt Emmie, Dr. Stone and Dr. Phillips. She mentions going to a sale that the government (by the aldermen of Beverly) put on selling canned goods that were left over that had been collected to feed the soldiers. She bought "a dozen cans of peas, a dozen of corn, a strip of bacon and some cooked corned beef. We got them lots cheaper than we can at the stores." Also mention having picked beets to can the next day. |
