    1823 handwritten booklet "Extracts in Prose and Verse" written by Hitty Smith of Beverly. She attended the proprietors school. Much of the entries are from copied from Lemprere's Classical Dictionary, others are poems from J. Beattie written in 1759. Hitty Smith, daughter of Ebenezer Jr and Lydia Smith, was born September 12, 1810. Hitty later married Augustus N. Clark, their home was 19 Broadway.
