Notes |
The items attached to this name have not yet been specifically identified to which Robert Rantoul they belonged, particularly those items from mid-1820s through Robert Rantoul Jr.'s death in 1852 when there were three known Robert Rantouls in and around Beverly, so they were left under this name. There were at least four generations of Robert Rantouls who lived and/or died in or around Beverly from mid-1700s through mid-late 1800s. Robert Rantoul Sr. (second Robert Rantoul) and Robert Rantoul Jr. (third Robert Rantoul) particularly were prominent citizens in their communities and professions. In addition, Robert Rantoul Jr.'s son was named Robert S. Rantoul, so he was also known as Robert Rantoul. |
