Description |
This is a fireman's side view of Eastern Railroad 0-4-0 #1 "Maverick" steam locomotive. When the Boston & Maine Railroad took over the Eastern RR in 1883, it was renumbered B&M #101 "Maverick." This locomotive was built by Hinkley & Williams of Lowell, Massachusetts in 1865, construction number (c/n) 749. The cylinders were 13x22. It was scrapped by the Boston & Maine in 1884. This photo is circa late-1870's to early-1880's. This photo came from the Boston & Maine Railroad's Marketing Department and was complied by Benjamin Thomas. One image is in sepia tone, the second and third photo is grayscale, though the third image is of the highest quality. |
