A collection of photographs compiled by Benjamin Thomas, a railroad employee who, in his day, was considered by B&M to be a foremost authority on pre-1911 motive power. No negatives exist for these photographs. This image is of the Boston Lowell & Nashua RR 4-4-0 locomotive number 26 the "Lowell." The photo was taken in an unknown location ca. 1864. The locomotive later became B&L 26, then B&L 326 "McNeil," then B&M 326. |
