Description |
A glass plate negative of Civil War veteran Amos P. Bodge (1838-1872), born April 4, 1838 in South Danvers, Massachusetts who enlisted as a Private in the 5th Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia in the United States Army on August 14, 1862 and served in the Civil War until the expiration of his term of service on July 2, 1863. Private Bodge was engaged in the battles of Kinston, Whitehall and Goldsboro Bridge, in North Carolina. He joined the Grand Army of the Republic, Post 89 on March 3, 1870 and was a G.A.R. member until his death on September 17, 1872 at the age of 34. |
