This black and white photograph of Boston & Maine Railroad's #1541, an American Locomotive Company (ALCO) RS-1-d, is a 3/4 front fireman's side view of the locomotive. The paint scheme is red with gold/yellow strips. Boston and Maine is spelled out on a solid section of yellow along the side in red. The locomotive number is above that in gold/yellow set against the red background. The Boston & Maine "Minute Man" herald is at the end of the locomotive. The RS-1-d produced 1600 horsepower. This is an official ALCO photo and was taken in Schenectady, New York sometime in January of 1952. This is a brand new locomotive and the photograph was taken shortly before delivery to the Boston & Maine Railroad. |
