Description |
This is a 3/4 front fireman's view of Eastern Railroad's #47 "MacBeth," a 4-4-0 in circa 1875. This locomotive was built by the Eastern Railroad in 1870. The cylinders measured 15x22. The #47 was renumbered to 147 and renamed the "Puritan" when the Boston & Maine Railroad leased the Eastern in 1883. Number #47 was scrapped by the B&M in 1885. This photograph of the "MacBeth" was taken at Central Square, Lynn, Massachusetts. This image originally came from the A.H. Chick Collection. This photo came from the Boston & Maine Railroad's Marketing Department and was complied by Benjamin Thomas. One image is in sepia tone, the second and third photo is grayscale, though the third image is of the highest quality. |
