Description |
This black and white photograph of Boston & Maine Railroad's #1118, a ElectroMotive Division of General Motors (EMD) SW1, is a rear view of the locomotive. The paint scheme is all black with the red and white curved strips (which are not seen in this view) on the front of the locomotive. In white lettering is the initials B&M on the top of the cab and to the left of the headlight. In white numbering is 1118 on the top of the cab and to the right of the headlight. The SW1s were primarily used for switching cars at the many yards on the B&M System. This is an official EMD photo and was taken in LaGrange, Illinois sometime in April of 1949. This is a brand new locomotive and the photograph was taken shortly before delivery to the Boston & Maine Railroad. |
