Black and White photograph showing Woodstock Railroad #4. #4 was a 2-6-0 type built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) at Manchester, NH in 1896 for the Bangor & Aroostock Railroad. She was purchased second hand by the Woodstock Railroad for $6,100 in 1929. She weighed 62 tons. She carried the name "H.H. Paine" under her cab window. She was eventually sold to the West River Railroad after the Woodstock Railroad was abandoned. Here she is seen on the last day of operations at Woodstock, VT on April 15, 1933. This photo was taken by the late Francis H. Donahue, and it is from the collection of the Beverly Historical Society. |
