Description |
This is a front 3/4 fireman's side view of the Boston & Maine Railroad's #6000 "Flying Yankee," a one of a kind stainless steel, streamlined train set that revolutionized passenger service on the B&M and Maine Central. It is seen here at Dover, New Hampshire with unknown crew and officals shaking hands. This photo was taken during an exhibition of the "Flying Yankee", circa 1936. The #6000 was a revolutionary and more efficent way of railroading. In an era of steam locomotives, the "Flying Yankee" was certainly a novelty. This is a black & white photo and was found among photographs origianlly owned by the Boston & Maine Marketing Department. |
