This is a 3/4 fireman's side view of Eastern Railroad's first #26 "Salmon," a 0-4-0 in circa 1865. This locomotive was built by the Boston Locomotive Works in 1854. This locomotive was renumbered 126 and renamed "Beverly" by the Boston & Maine Railroad when they leased the Eastern in 1883. The B&M scrapped #26 in 1884. The original image is from the Essex Institute. This photo came from the Boston & Maine Railroad's Marketing Department and was complied by Benjamin Thomas. One image is in sepia tone, the second and third photo is grayscale, though the third image is of the highest quality. |
