Description |
"The Capture of Paulus Hook" depicts the battle where Henry Lee captured Paulus Hook in Jersey City, New Jersey. The artist Clyde Asmer Deland was active in the Philadelphia region. He graduated from the University of Rochester. He painted historic scenes for the National Museum and Carpenter's Hall. He also illustrated Rafael Sabatini's Captain Blood. This illustration was in Henry Cabot Lodge's Story of the Revolution (Volume 2, Page 139) and was donated by Susan Day Parker in 1904. |
