Description |
A Sheraton style mahogany card table with mahogany veneer and satin wood inlay. The top is on hinges so that it can fold in half. The rear legs can be pulled out to provide a full size table. This card table as well as a matching one and secretary were all made in 1815 by Salem cabinet maker, William Hock. These were made for Captain Henry Larcom (1777-1862) and Fanny Ellingwood Larcom (1780-1847). The style name was attributed to Thomas Sheraton (1750-1806), an English cabinet maker. |
