Description |
Black, white and muted blue oil painting entitled "The Battle of Princeton" by F. C. Yohn in 1898. The new Pennsylvania militia in the van wavered under British fire, and began to give way. Washington rode rapidly to the front, reined his horse within 30 yards of the enemy, and called on his men to stand firm. In 1898, Henry Cabot Lodge wrote "The Story of the Revolution," this image is in Vol. I, p. 219. The painting was donated by Susan Day Parker to Beverly Historical Society and Museum in 1904. |
