Description |
1898 oil painting entitled "The Capture of Stony Point by Wayne;" black and white by F. C. Yohn in 1898. On back - "Wayne at Stoney Point. As Wayne was crossing the Abatis, a musket-ball struck him in the head, dazed as he was by the blow, he called out that if he was mortally hurt he wanted to die in the Fort, and his aides picked him up and bore him forward." In 1898 Henry Cabot Lodge wrote The Story of the American Revolution, this image is in Vol. 2 p. 135. Donated in 1904 by Susan Day Parker. |
