1820-1822 ship's log documents a whaling voyage of the Ship Falcon from Nantucket to the Pacific Ocean via the port of Edgartown under Captain Shubael Brown, and from Coquimbo, Chile, back to the United States under Captain Benjamin C. Chase. A small booklet inserted into the log holds diary entries, including a note that Captain Brown died on board, 13 October 1821. The ship is noted as leaving from Beverly on Wednesday 6 September 1820. The voyage is recorded as commencing 8 October 1820, and terminating 1 November 1822. See notes. |
