    Collection of primary source records that tell the history of Independence Park in Beverly Massachusetts. Compiled in 1906 by Charles Woodberry at the request of then-Mayor Joseph A. Wallis. Independence Park was the encampment of the 14th regiment of the Continental Army in 1775-1776 (so-called "Glover's Regiment").

    A handwritten will for Elizabeth Trask of Beverly that was written on October 16, 1775. All of her worldly possessions were to be evenly distributed between her two daughters, Elizabeth Brown and Marcie Trask. Benjamin Osgood and Moses Brown (her son-in-law) were appointed executors of the will. This document was witnessed by Benjamin Hooper, Thomas Porter and Benjamin Osgood.

  3. 007.019.014 - Document

    1795 handwritten document containing the copy of invoice of the cargo for the Brig Fanny written by Samuel Cabot on 3 December. Israel Thorndike, Joseph Lee, Moses Brown and Samuel Cabot signed off errors excepted. Joseph Wood signed off on this document as a notary public that the goods in the annexed invoice are bonafide their property on 2 December 1795. There is also illegible writing and arithmetic on the back of this document.

    A softcovered bound booklet containing the regimental orders of Captain Moses Brown. The first entry was made at the camp in Beverly on 15 January 1776 and the last was entered on 8 May 1776. This document contains all of the rules including leave of the camp as well as the officers of the day. The back of the booklet contains the names of the men in the regiment and pertinent information such as descriptions and amounts of ammunition.
