    This object is the research notebook of Octavius Thorndike Howe for his book "Beverly Privateers in the American Revolution." It includes crew lists of many vessels - listed in Search Terms. Several pages are devoted to information about the men involved in privateering. There are also genealogical notes about some of the individuals listed.

    A list of votes and decisions made by the parish committee. Much of the matters pertain to collections and taxes. The notes were written on a single sheet of laid paper that bears a small round watermark. They are unsigned, though there is a red wax seal in the upper left corner. The verso of the paper bears a brief note, dated to March 9, 1790 and signed by Jonathan Conant.

    A warrant directed to constable Levi Dodge, asking him to alert the community about a meeting of the voting committee to take place on July 1, 1802. The warrant was signed and sealed by members of the parish committee: John Conant, Rufus Putnam, and Ebenezer Trask. The verso of the warrant bears brief notes regarding this meeting held on July 1, 1802.

    1782 document recording taxes paid by Beverly citizens to the town and county; it contains names, polls, real estate, and amount. There is a legal notice at the end of the booklet, addressed John Conant, Constable that he is required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to "level and collect of the several persons named in lists herewith" his respective proportions, set down the sum total, it being part of the tax assessment of 550 pounds agreed...
