1795 letter from Moses Brown (1748 - 1820) to his wife, Mary Bridge Brown, written from Philadelphia. He writes about "our cause" which is coming up and he thinks will take about a week. Later he says that he met the President and Mrs. Washington, and "was recognized with attention" by the President. A petition from Lysander Spooner to the Legislature of Massachusetts. Spooner suggests some more legal reforms and objects to many of the laws recently passed by the Legislature. He argues that attorneys should not have to inform the court of their education and attainments, that they should not have to swear an oath of loyalty to their clients, and that they should not have to swear an oath of loyalty to the court.
