1795 letter from Moses Brown (1748 - 1820) to his wife, Mary Bridge Brown, written from Philadelphia. He writes about "our cause" which is coming up and he thinks will take about a week. Later he says that he met the President and Mrs. Washington, and "was recognized with attention" by the President. In the letter he enclosed a 5 cent piece "a coin of the United States or a token of affection." See notes. Moses Brown married Mary Bridge of Salem on 12 April 1789. She was his second wife. |
